Community organization unites with real estate developers to transform lives through affordable housing opportunities in Brampton
TORONTO, ON (July 30, 2024) – Yesterday, Habitat for Humanity GTA (Habitat GTA), The Daniels Corporation (Daniels) and Choice Properties REIT (Choice Properties) presented a GTA family with keys to their brand-new home at the Daniels Mount Pleasant Village (MPV) community, located steps away from the Mount Pleasant GO station, in Brampton. The milestone was made possible by Daniels and Choice Properties who provided the home to Habitat GTA at a significant discount. This enabled Habitat GTA to create an affordable homeownership opportunity for the family under the same terms Habitat offers when a home is built exclusively by Habitat GTA volunteers.
For the teams at Daniels and Choice Properties, today’s ceremony was particularly meaningful as members of their leadership teams came together with Habitat in December 2023 and spent a day volunteering their time in the construction of this home in the MPV community. As such, today marked a full-circle moment for the partners from the initial decision to make an affordable home possible, to building the home, to personally meeting and congratulating the newest Habitat partner family on having reached this transformative point in their lives.
Earlier this month, Daniels and Habitat GTA welcomed two more new Habitat families to their homes in Brampton at Daniels’ OMG 2 community. Opening doors to homeownership enables families to thrive and establish a safe and secure financial future.
