As Chief Financial Officer at The Daniels Corporation, Mike Matunin is responsible for steering the company’s financial strategy, risk management, and capital planning to ensure long-term growth. He manages over $1 billion in active financing, cultivates key relationships with top lending institutions, and secures best-in-class loan terms to optimize Daniels’ equity investments.

Mike’s career in finance began at the Royal Bank of Scotland before he earned his MBA and joined CIBC’s Real Estate Finance Division. There, he managed a $1 billion+ portfolio, financing 50–80 development projects annually, including several Daniels communities. His deep understanding of real estate finance grew further at CMLS Financial, where he helped launch and scale CMHC’s Rental Construction Financing Initiative (RCFi, now ACLP). Under his leadership, the program expanded from $2.5 billion to $27.5 billion, funding over $5 billion in rental housing projects across Canada.

Since joining Daniels in 2019, Mike has brought a steady, strategic mindset to navigating financial complexities. With experience spanning more than 1,000 real estate projects and $10 billion in financing, he has been instrumental in reinforcing Daniels’ position as an industry leader. Known for his ability to remain calm in high-stakes situations, Mike approaches every challenge with precision and expertise. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and an MBA.
