Heela Omarkhail is the Vice President of Social Impact at The Daniels Corporation, where she leads the company’s commitment to building inclusive and resilient communities. A strategic and visionary leader, Heela ensures that social impact is embedded in every facet of Daniels’ work, prioritizing affordable and accessible housing, local economic development, and social infrastructure to foster thriving neighborhoods.
Since joining Daniels in 2009, Heela has played a pivotal role in the Regent Park Revitalization, transforming it into a global model for inclusive community building. She co-produced and co-wrote The Journey, a musical production that has raised over $4.3 million for Regent Park’s cultural hub, Daniels Spectrum. She also spearheaded Daniels’ collaboration with United Way Greater Toronto, including a social impact investment fund and the Inclusive Local Economic Opportunities (ILEO) initiative in Scarborough’s Golden Mile.
Heela’s lived experience as the child of Afghan immigrants and her passion for equity fuel her commitment to creating opportunities for underrepresented communities. She is a founding co-chair of the Accelerating Accessibility Coalition and serves on the boards of Start2Finish and the Urban Land Institute Toronto.
A frequent speaker on real estate, community development, and philanthropy, Heela holds a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Toronto.
