SUSTAINABILITY
We Build for the Future
Daniels is committed to designing and building low-carbon communities that have a positive impact on the environment – so you can love where you live, for generations to come.
While the real estate and building industry in the GTA contributes significantly to greenhouse gas emissions, Daniels sees this as an opportunity to be a force of positive change. Embracing our role with transparency, accountability, and collaboration, we’re passionately working to minimize our carbon footprint.
OUR DECARBONIZATION MISSION
At Daniels, we’re spearheading a holistic approach to sustainability by focusing on whole life carbon. This embraces operational carbon, emissions from daily home energy use and upfront carbon, emissions emitted in the course of creating a new community, from raw materials to final construction.
Our Decarbonization Roadmap sets clear performance baselines and emission reduction targets for our upcoming development cycles and redefines sustainable building in line with global climate goals.

EXPERIENCE THE BENEFITS OF LIVING IN A LOW-CARBON COMMUNITY.
We’ve always envisioned a world where sustainable living isn’t a luxury- it’s accessible to everyone. Our belief is steadfast: sustainability shouldn’t carry a premium price tag, and low-carbon communities are the blueprint for resilient homes ready for the future.
Our first low-carbon community is Daniels MPV2 – located in Brampton’s Mount Pleasant Village, the first phase of a new 19-acre low-carbon master-planned community and Canada’s Clean50 Top Project for 2024, with condo suites and townhomes available for sale and lease.
INDUSTRY FIRST CARBON LABELS
We’ve introduced a carbon label at each of our new communities to make our progress on decarbonization clear and measurable. The label breaks down Whole Life Carbon, covering both upfront and operating emissions, and shows the total carbon impact based on the specific suite area.
Developed to voluntarily share our carbon performance, the label enhances accountability to our Decarbonization Roadmap and tracks the impact of the innovative features and technologies we’re implementing.

DRIVING CHANGE THROUGH COLLABORATION

Climate Smart Buildings Alliance – Responsible Buildings Pact
The Responsible Buildings Pact is a voluntary cross-industry agreement aimed at ensuring that lower carbon materials are consistently considered and used when appropriate. By establishing processes to encourage companies to use lower carbon materials and designs whenever possible, the Pact will help bring more low-carbon materials online and accelerate the transition to a sustainable built environment.
We are proud to be a founding signatory of the Pact, alongside industry leaders that share our commitment to de-risk sustainable actions, create a culture of shared accountability for material decisions and drive continually higher professional standards.
In Year 1 (2024-25), Pact signatories pilot tested consideration and reporting processes on a limited number of projects and only focusing on concrete. Our ECOPact Low-Carbon Concrete Pilot at Daniels on Parliament in Regent Park, is featured in the Pact’s Year 1 Annual Report.

Carbon Leadership Forum (CLF Toronto)
CLF Toronto is a local hub of the Carbon Leadership Forum (previously known as the Embodied Carbon Network (ECN) Toronto chapter). Connected to a global network of diverse professionals, CLF Toronto hosts local events that empower industry professionals to radically reduce embodied carbon from buildings and infrastructure.
Our Senior Manager of Sustainability, Meghan Wilson, is the Co-Chair and a driving force behind the work that CLF Toronto does to accelerate the transformation of the building sector to radically reduce the embodied carbon in building materials and construction through collective action.

ECOPact Low-Carbon Concrete Pilot with Innocon
Together with Amrize, and its subsidiary Innocon, in late 2024 we completed a landmark First Carbon Smart Design collaboration using advanced concrete mixed design technology at our Daniels
on Parliament site, located in Regent Park.
ECOPact Low-Carbon Concrete incorporates limestone to reduce the carbon footprint of traditional Portland cement and utilizes by-products from other manufacturing processes in lieu of
virgin materials.
