WELCOME TO
REGENT PARK
Partnership, vision, and community.
A point of pride for the city and a community of international acclaim, the Regent Park revitalization is viewed as the gold standard for re-imagining challenged urban neighbourhoods around the world through partnership, vision, and community
In 2005, The Daniels Corporation partnered with Toronto Community Housing to re-develop 53 of the 69 acres of Toronto’s Regent Park. The Regent Park revitalization restores a diversity of architecture that blends seamlessly with surrounding neighbourhoods, reconnects Regent Park to Toronto’s grid of streets and avenues, and includes the creation of new commercial spaces and community facilities.
Under the shared vision of creating a vibrant, mixed-income, mixed-use community that brings new vitality to Toronto’s Downtown East, Daniels is proud to have brought numerous residential and commercial opportunities, as well as community amenities to this neighbourhood. In partnership with Chartwell Retirement Residences and Sun Life Financial, Daniels has also introduced rental opportunities for families and active seniors with The Sumach by Chartwell and Evolv Rentals.
Located in Toronto’s thriving Downtown East, Regent Park is bordered by River Street, Queen Street East, Gerrard Street, and Parliament Street.
IN THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Within the last 10 years, the Regent Park community has seen the opening of many incredible public amenities, such as the 6-acre community park – located in the heart of the community that is often host to the neighbourhood’s events and celebrations; the Regent Park Community Centre – home to a variety of recreation amenities like Regent Park’s employment hub and a child care centre; and the Regent Park Athletic Grounds – a fully equipped space with a hockey rink, running track, basketball court, a field house, and an artificial turf field for soccer and cricket. The community also now features the award-winning Pam McConnell Aquatic Centre, Daniels Spectrum, the Toronto Birth Centre, the Dixon Hall Youth Centre and more.
In addition, St. Mike’s Hospital opened the Sumac Creek Health Centre, a clinic dedicated to offering services to the Regent Park, Moss Park and St. James Town communities.
There are also a number of local businesses and national brand retailers in the neighbourhood like Shoppers Drug Mart, Rogers, Enterprise Car Share, RBC and Scotiabank, Tim Hortons, Paintbox Bistro, Le Beau Croissanterie, F45 Fitness and much more.
BEYOND THE BRICKS AND MORTAR
Beyond the physical infrastructure, the revitalization of Regent Park has acted as a catalyst for social and economic change with over 1600 people having been connected to employment opportunities through the Regent Park Employment Centre. Daniels is proud to take a leadership role in supporting and actively facilitating local workforce development by leveraging relationships within the labour market and strongly encouraging ‘social procurement’ practices of the various partners involved throughout the development process.
Daniels celebrates the life and vibrancy of the community by collaborating and partnering with local organizations, businesses, and artists to not only deliver homes but impact as well.
